Why a PAC?

New York City Libraries have faced budget cuts
almost every year since 2008.
Our communities
deserve better.


The purpose of LibraryPAC is to endorse and
financially support candidates for local and state
elected office in NYC who believe in the value and
potential of libraries to improve the lives of all
New Yorkers and subscribe to the principles of
robust, equitable, and well funded libraries in the
city of New York.

Fund NYC public libraries for robust days and
hours
that meet public need and ensure safe
staffing levels

Establish stable, baseline funding for the library

systems year to year, ending “the budget dance”

Commit to supporting budget increase requests from public library systems to keep up with ever increasing costs

Commit to the concept of true inclusivity - defending and supporting libraries’ efforts to serve our entire community

Demonstrate material support for NYC’s libraries, their patrons and their staff through their votes, actions and commitments

Commit to a capital plan that ensures sound physical buildings with functioning systems
